about

Susie Stubbs is an artist/maker based in the inner west of Sydney, Australia.Trained as a graphic designer Susie worked for many years as a Book Designer and Editor, and then as a Web Designer. During that time she designed the first websites for the ALP and the Australian Writers Guild.

A passionate gardener she studied Horticulture through TAFE while caring for her three small children.

Around the same time the fortuitous discovery of Arts marketplace Etsy and Gocco screenprinting in the same month in 2007 led to her opening an online shop and starting acraft blog, both called Flower Press that year. The name reflects her love of the natural world and her background in print.

Initially Susie sold her art prints produced with a Print Gocco machine. Later, after a short course in Textile printing at COFA the range expanded to include handprinted textiles, including her popular linen tea towels.

Ceramics was another creative interest, which developed around short courses in wheel throwing, mixing her own glazes and handmaking. Susie produces her ceramics in a home studio with her own kiln. She is most interested in handpainted pieces in earthenware, and midfire glaze work in stoneware.

More recently Susie has begun painting in oils. Again her practice reflects her life long love of nature by focussing on still life and landscapes. Online offerings now include Fine Art Cards of her popular paintings.
